Dr Hassan Hameed is a Maldivian educator, writer and Thaana type designer. He began making Thaana fonts in the mid-1990s, and his designs include MV A Waheed, MV Aammu FK, MV Faseyha and MV Funa.

Abdulla Waheed is a Maldivian calligrapher from Eydhafushi in Baa Atoll who worked at the Office of the President. His Thaana lettering is the basis of MV A Waheed and MV Aammu FK.

Hussain Niyaz is a Maldivian type designer from Lhohi in Noonu Atoll. He runs dhivehifont.com, where he publishes his own Thaana fonts.

Volunteer non-profit group (MITF)

The Maldivian Internet Task Force (MITF) was a volunteer, non-profit group that worked as a catalyst for Maldivian internet and computer projects. Its Thaana Unicode Akeh (2000) was an early free Unicode Thaana font.

Pseudonymous type designer (FontStruct), blogger and musician

Zillon is the pseudonym of a Maldivian type designer who publishes experimental Thaana fonts on FontStruct, a browser-based tool that builds fonts from modular pieces.

Hasan Shazil is a Maldivian type designer. In 2021 he contributed three fonts to Thaana Type Foundry: Haluvidhaa, a slanted, bubbly display face; Hawwa, a brush font that imitates ink handwriting; and Sangu Suruhee.
